Normally I save the philosophical stuff for other blogs (and promise not to do too much of this here), but this morning an important topic came up in the #scriptschool chat (irc.scriptschool.com #scriptschool) related to PHP: ongoing learning.
I’m a huge proponent of ongoing learning. It’s important not just to learn something but to use that knowledge or it can go away. I’ve been learning PHP since December 1999 and never really have felt I’ve stopped learning.
Sure, there have been days, weeks and even months [gasp] when I haven’t spent much time in the learning mode. This blog is part notebook, part knowledge center and continues in the path of where my PHP diary entries left off. Will I ever go back to updating the PHP diary again? Maybe, but these entries take less time to put together which make them easier to provide more frequent updates.
The goal for this blog is a minimum of 4 updates a week and hopefully to provide something new related to php that is helpful.
Today’s tip
Establish and set aside some time each day if possible, or at least a couple times a week. for learning something new code-related. It doesn’t have to be PHP, of course, it could be Python, MySQL, JavaScript, a new API, C/C++, etc.

Hi how are you….I wanted to thank you for your site, it is a good way for newbies like me to start getting their feet wet with PHP scripting…..my question is, do you know where I can find someone who will write php script for my website (obviously for a price)? thank you in advance .

Hi Mike, our commercial site is located here: http://www.tdscripts.com/
I know other programmers as well if our schedule is booked (it often is) so feel free to get in touch with me at my office and we can go from there.
